Arne,

Never had an adverse reaction to cipro. Have had an adverse reaction to erthromycin (sp) and I know that it really makes you miserable. Hope your friend feels better. I seriously recommend listening to the dr. and not taking it any more. In my experience the second reaction was worse. Its not worth trying it again even if it seems improbable that it was cipro. In my case, I listened to the ER dr. when he said it was something I ate even though I was pretty sure it was the med. Just to prove him wrong I took it again and ended up with a second case of anaphylaxis in a week. Very unpleasant and stupid decision.

Arne -

You have described common adverse reaction to Cipro as well as other antibiotics. I hope they changed to another antibiotic.

Has anyone ever had an adverse reaction to Cipro? I know the following are listed:

Most frequent - nausea (2.5%), diarrhea (1.6%), liver function tests abnormal (1.3%), vomiting (1.0%), and rash (1.0%).

The only reaction I ever had to Cipro was weird dreams. They were very

vivid and very violent, which isn't usual for me. I didn't figure it

out at first, but after a few days I looked up side effects and

" abnormal dream " is listed. Strange!

Arne,

I had those exact reactions to Cipro recently (with the addition of

hives, when I had IV Cipro), after taking it on and off with no

problems for years. It's now on my allergy list because I had such

adverse reactions to it during and after one of my ERCP's earlier this

year.
