Hi

> Curious to hear which doctors in Toronto (obviously for members of

this group that are from Ontario) members of this group are currently

seeing. Except for a little itching which to be honest could be dry

skin I have had no symptoms since a cholangitis attack a year ago that

caused the ERCP that left me diagnosed with PSC. My doctor has left me

on Urso (1000 mg per day) and wants to see me every 6 mths. Is this

normal? I know our hospital systems are operating at 150% capacity and

wanted to make sure I wasn't getting skimped on.

I'm just down the QEW from you in Hamilton. I see Dr. Witt-Sullivan

and as things are fairly good for me as far as LFTs are concerned, I'm

only seeing her once a year. She's indicated to call her office if

things worsen so your semi-annual visits are " higher frequency " from

mine .... :)

I'm also taking URSO but mine is 2000 mg/day. However, in light of all

the recent discussion surrounding high dosage URSO, I will question

the need to continue this dosage on my next visit in a few months.

2-3 months if you are lucky, it's been 6 months now for my husband - including a 2 month wait for MRI and >3 weeks for MRI results. The doctors (GI's) are 'sure' he's got PSC (liver enzymes, post-April: itching, pain in RUQ). His MRI didn't show anything - they said it wouldn't for an early stage. He is afraid of having an ERCP (pancreatitis, bleeding, death). I'd like for him to see a hepatologist thus am going to repeat 's question: does anybody know a good doctor in Toronto?

Thanks.

In a round about way I will answer this question in a different manner. I was fortunate enough to get a transplant at Toronto General back in September of 2006. It was a long wait and I have been thru a lot over the five years since I was diagnosed. At the last I could not drive and had real problems walking and had real fuzzy brain. I have nothing but praise for the Ontario medical system ..... in the end it worked great for me. Your results may vary.

So my local specialist was a gastro/hept guy in Huntsville (Dr B. Muratt). He was great in that he knew what I had and treated it to the best he could. He refered me to Dr. Lilly at Toronto General who I saw every three months till tranplant. My recomendation to you maybe to go to the 12 floor of TGH and ask the receptionist for a list of the refering doctors to that area. This is the transplant wing of TGH. I am sure you will get a good list from them..

If you have futher questions email me direct
