I agree it is very likey she has RT3 problems adn gettign rid of it will

strengthen her heart immeasurably! It will also take away the need for

Lipitor, a horrid drug and if she has high BP ti will probably hewlp

thta as well. With low RBC I owuld suspect she need sa full iron panel

as well.

BTW insulin also lowers potassium so both serum adn RBC potassium test

should be run as well. Low potassium can cause high glucose, harder to

manage Diabetes and MANY pains and IBS symptoms as well.

Val...thanks for the response. My mom sent me the wrong info for her labs...the

T3 was actually her RT3, so these are the correct numbers:

Free T4 - 1.42 (normal 0.82-1.77)

TSH - 2.150 (normal 0.450-4.500)

Free T3 - 2.6 (normal 2.0-4.4)

RT3 - 271 (normal 90-350)

I'm not great at figuring out the ratio...is it 9.6?

Here are some of her other labs:

Glucose 159 H (65-99)

Sodium 140 (135-145)

Potassium 4.4 (3.5-5.2)...she does supplement potassium

Cholesterol 182 (100-199)

Triglycerides 190 H (0-149)

HDL Cholesterol 38 L (>39)

VLDL Cholesterol 38 (5-40)

LDL Cholesterol 106 H (0-99)

LDL/HDL Ratio 2.8 (0-3.2)

Hemoglobin A1c 6.5 H (4.8-5.6)

Unfortunately her doctor did not run an iron panel, but I do think she is

probably anemic.

The sad thing is that he has convinced her that she does not have an issue with

her thyroid and she needs to work harder on getting her diabetes under control.

He prescribe Symlin...do you know anything about that?

Thanks again,

Steph

Yes 9.6 is correct and that is very bad.Her Diabetes is NOT well

controlled at all and that would be the VERY first thing to address. Is

she on insulin? With numbers like these I would sugggest Insulin.

Yes...she is on Insulin as well as Metformin.

Now I have to convince her that she does actually have a thyroid problem...I'm

just not sure how to do it, because she is going to listen to her doctor who

told her she is fine. I'm also concerned to tell her to use Cytomel because of

her heart issues. Do you think SRT3 would work? She is very bad about

remembering to take her meds. I just really doubt her doctor will prescribe T3

only meds.
