Guest guest
My husband was recently diagnosed with PSC (June 2008) for the last few months he has experienced the upper right quadrant pain. In the last few days this dull pain has moved to his right side with intermitant stabbing pain. We are very new at this. Please respond if you have experienced this and what it could possibily mean (liver inflamation?) He has already had one ERCP in June and scheduled for another one in 10 days. This first ERCP had dilation. He has not had a liver biopsy yet. Thank you,
Guest guest
, As we usually say to new people on this forum: We are sorry you needed to find us, but we are happy you found us. You will find that the people on this forum together are extremely knowledgeable and experienced in just about anything related to PSC. I am no doctor, and even a doctor would not be able to diagnose your husband over the internet. RUQ pain is fairly common in PSC and is often described as a dull pain. A stabbing pain however sounds more like an infection of some sort (cholangitis?), especially if it is accompanied by fever. I can't tell you what to do, but I think I personally would either find a doctor I trust soon, or go to the ER. Neglecting to treat an infection can lead to acute problems and even sepsis (blood-poisoning). Like I said, I am no doctor. I am telling you what I think and what I would do. I hope this helped, and I hope your husband will feel better soon. Regards, Chaim Boermeester, Israel.
