Hello ;

Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your PSC and sarcoidosis

diagnoses. Yes there is a bit of a link between sarcoidosis and

PSC ... there can be liver involvement in sarcoidosis:

Nunes H, Bouvry D, Soler P, Valeyre D 2007 Sarcoidosis. Orphanet J.

Rare Dis. 2: 46.

http://www.ojrd.com/content/2/1/46

and the liver disease in sarcoidosis can closely resemble PSC:

Devaney K, Goodman ZD, Epstein MS, Zimmerman HJ, Ishak KG 1993

Hepatic sarcoidosis. Clinicopathologic features in 100 patients. Am.

J. Surg. Pathol. 17: 1272-1280.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8238735

Alam I, Levenson SD, Ferrell LD, Bass NM 1997 Diffuse intrahepatic

biliary strictures in sarcoidosis resembling sclerosing cholangitis.

Case report and review of the literature. Dig. Dis. Sci. 42: 1295-

1301.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9201098

As I understand it, some of the genetic susceptibility genes for

sarcoidosis are shared with those of Crohn's disease. Bacterial

antigens may be involved in triggering the granuloma formations of

the disease:

Sarcoidosis

The latter article may be of interest because it has a brief section

on " Subcutaneous nodular sarcoidosis " , also called Darier-Roussy

sarcoidosis.

For hundreds of other references on sarcoidosis, see:

Best regards,

Dave
