Last week, everything was going fine, taking the fentanyl patch, and BOOM, it stopped working. Doctor thinks it was just a bad box of patches, but, I also noticed in 2 weeks time I heffed on 9 pounds right at my abdomen area and it was rather rock hard. What does ascites do as far as the transplant list? Does it get me more points? I am now on 2 forms of diuretics......and peeing all the time!!! Although usually as albumin and other proteins drop, allowing fluid into the abdominal cavity, INR will rise, and that increases MELD by roughly 1 point for each 0.1 rise in INR. With MELD it all in the measurable numbers not subjective assessments like ascites, itching, varices or HE (unless an appeal for points is made and granted).
