Guest guest
Hi, everyone. The lurker, Janet from Jersey, here again and I'm back from my hospital stay. First, I would like to thank everyone who sent thoughts and prayers my way. It is so comforting to know that all of you care so much for me and my situation, someone you have never met in person. I talk about this group all the time to ALL of my doctors. I think my next " project " will be to download the color brochures from the PSC Partners Seeking A Cure website and ask to place them in the doctor's offices because they have a lot of info regarding IBD and hepatitis but NONE about PSC. And these are in the Transplant Dept!!!!! Go figure! Anyhoo, my doc originall was going to put a stent in the main bile duct because it had constricted so badly from strictures that he could not get ANY of his instruments inside during the ERCP on August 8th. Well, I came back in on August 29 to have the stents placed as well has having brushings. Once the doc got inside, he decided to put a stent in the right and left duct leading from the main duct and THREE small stents in the main bile duct. Needless to say, I was not feeling too great when I awoke in recovery, but as of this writing, I am feeling much better. I was told that the cancer screening of my bloodwork came back negative. I am still awaiting the results of the brushings. Thank you, Marie, for clueing me regarding sending brushings to Mayo. I am going to ask my doc if they will do this. I DO NOT want a false negative OR a false positive. I am, however, still having what feels like a really bad upset stomach each time I eat. My hep doc told me to start eating more yogurt to try to get some good bacteria to aid in digestion. Otherwise, I am not having any other pain. I expect I will be going back in about 3 months to have these stents removed and other inserted, if need be. I do have a few questions for those you who have had stents for a number of years: How are you doing generally? Do you have severe, moderate or mild pain over time with the removal and insertion of numerous stents? Do you feel stenting has really helped you to live with PSC? Thanks
