Jacquelyn is not a member of our group. Just wanted to pass

along her latest news to those who still remember her.

Subject: Updates on The

Latest...Ready for the challenges!!

I will start this update to fill you in

re: my oncology appointment from last week. The biggest concern

right now is surrounding my spleen. There are 2 BIG questions:

1) " what is making it grow so big so fast/is it due to those possible

malignant lymph nodes " and 2) " what should we do about it since it is

causing me severe unrelenting pain 24/7 along with other problems. "

The oncologist felt that surgical removal of the spleen would be best for all

involved. It would not only get that HUGE spleen out of there (which is

currently taking up 3/4 of my abdominal cavity), but it would also allow him to

reach those enlarged and abnormal lymph nodes to see if there is a

malignancy. And even though I will be having a PET Scan tomorrow to see

if the nodes light up as malignant, the only true way of getting to the bottom

of it all is for him to get those nodes out and get them biopsied.

So, back to this PET Scan that is scheduled for

tomorrow. I will be injected with a sugar molecule and radiation and then

for 3 hours, (ugh!) I will be under some high

tech device that will follow the sugar molecule as it travels through my

system. If it stops at the " suspicious lymph nodes, " then it is

a solid indication that they are cancerous, but again, only the actual biopsy

will provide us with the FINAL WORD.

SO... .just when we thought we

had the " transplant thing " calmed down, understood and

under control...here comes the big " cancer " word knocking at our

door.

p.s. Dr. H. told me that he would call me with my

" surgical date " ASAP, so I will pass that along to you as soon

as I know anything! love you all!!

Thanks for posting Jacquelyn's update, Barb. By chance does she have

a CB site or Care page that you can share? I'd love to get regular

updates.
