Guest guest
Thanks Jeanne. I'll check out the video later today when I have more time (almost time to take my daughter to school now). Anyway, the swelling has now moved into his left leg and foot. You can't see ANY bones at all in his left foot. He slept on the couch last night so he could keep his feet elevated. He is dead set AGAINST having the fluid drained. He wants the dr to prescribe him a diuretic. I called his transplant coordinator yesterday but she was in clinic all day. I'm going to try again today. He is miserable and had to walk around work yesterday with his pants undone. I wish he'd just have it drained. I'm sure he'd feel better afterwards but he doesn't want to because it hurts. Thanks for all of the advice & suggestions.
Guest guest
I think his ambivalence comes from last year when they took a sample. They didn't drain it all but they took a syringe full to check for infection. He said they didn't numb him before they did it. It wouldn't surprise me either. This last time in the hospital they had to be in a bigger gage IV because he was going to be getting a blood transfusion and the nurse said it is hospital policy to numb the area with lydicane first. Funny, that was the first we'd ever heard about it. Apparently some are too lazy to do it even though it's hospital policy. As soon as his arm was numb he completely relaxed and the IV went right in. He really isn't a wimp at all. LOL He usually faces most procedures like no big deal. He just had such a horrible experience last year when they sampled the fluid that I think it traumatized him a bit. I talked to him earlier though after I spoke with his coordinator and he said most of the fluid from his abdomen is gone but know it's in his leg. So what on earth do you do about that?????
