Guest guest
Ian, I have never truly worked out from which state the caringbridge site is operated, I just know as author, I can choose the time zone I am in. Australia operates a few different time zones, with the east coast mostly under the same time zone, until summer when down south they change the clocks an hour. It gives an endless source of discussion around this weekend every year, as we are the only state to not change the clocks. As Qld is so big (both north south and east west) the south east corner (who usually want daylight saving) is always outvoted when we go to referendum. Even in my family there is a split, I would love it but my husband hates it. I’m never sure of the official names for the timezones, everyone just says “Sydney time” to clarify things if you have interstate dealings during summer! On a more amusing note, the brand new whiz bang apple Iphones that were recently brought into Australia at great expense all think they live in Sydney, so automatically changed times this weekend, much to the chagrin of Queenslanders. Thanks for posting my updates, Penny T Question from Ian. The caringbidge website time stamps your posts EST. normally I associate that with Eastern Standard Time which is the time zone on the east coast of America. They use the same letters, but different time zone in Australia?

Guest guest
Penny, My vote (which doesn't seam to count) is to always stay on daylight savings time. My understanding of cell phones is that whenever they get new service (are turned on or come into a service area from an area that doesn't have service) the time is updated by the service provider, so if the phone left on it isn't automatically update when flying from one time zone to another or when the time switches from standard time to daylight time. If you turn the phone off then back on, it should update.
