Guest guest
The statement that gets me is " No patient cooperation required " !, but video shows them putting a breathing apparatus on you and you needing to drink a substance. How do they do that without the patient cooperation? Ian (52) PSC 89 Hi All,My daughter tested a machine called BreathID at Henry Ford Hospital last week. In the future it will help eliminate the need for a liver biopsy in certain circumstances. It has also been used to detect the quality of liver function after a transplant. The test took about an hour and my daughter gave it two thumbs up! Here is the link http://www.breathid.com/ -- Ian Cribb P.Eng.
Guest guest
Perhaps the technicians give you the choice of a breath test or a liver biopsy..... I am sure 100% of patients would choose the breath test, coperating to put on a breathing apparatus and drinking a substance would not be a problem.....grin from New Zealand > > The statement that gets me is " No patient cooperation required " !, but video > shows them putting a breathing apparatus on you and you needing to drink a > substance. Guest guest
Wow ! that looks really cool and obviously much better than a biopsy- I am really curious about how well it works, how it's been tested and what centers have these. The researcher said they are getting good results and BreathID's will go to other hospitals for testing soon. My daughter was asked to participate in the study because she had a biopsy last month and they can compare the results against the results of BreathID. On a side note BreathID came out of Israel with the assistance of NASA in it's development. Overseas they have been using a machine called FibroScan which also evaluates liver damage but it is a type of ultra scan. At Mayo they are doing a type of MRI which they are also testing. I think it is great these type of machines are becoming available, less risk and more comfort.
