A flurry of questions from a newbie

Okay, so I'm new to this group, and comparatively new to the world of

having vulvar vestibulitis, so I have a lot of questions. I'm too

overwhelmed to be certain how to list them in a decent order, so I'm

afraid it's quite stream-of-consciousness; good luck!

1) I have heard of some cases in which intercourse is actually not

possible at all. Is this really common?

2) What is more common, for the vestibulitis to resolve after a number

of years, or for it to be a permanent condition? I've had it for six

months now, so I'm apparently not going to be one of the " short " cases

my gynecologist told me about, but I'm curious as to whether or not I

can still hope for it to go away.

3) The only treatment I've been given is topical lidocaine to apply

before intercourse. Thus far, it hasn't really alleviated the pain,

and it takes much longer than it should to work. It seems to me that

most other people on this forum have had treatment aside from just

numbing before intercourse; are there any treatments you'd recommend?

4) I've heard acupuncture mentioned as a fairly successful new

treatment. Does anyone know anything more about this, have any

personal experiences with it, or know where acupuncture specifically

to treat vulvar vestibulitis might be available?

Thank you ahead of time for any responses I might receive. I'm an

unhappy combination of frightened and depressed when I allow myself to

think about this, particularly without having someone to talk to who

has experience in the area.
