Guest guest
Genevieve, Unfortunately, I have no idea what kind of stent I had. Maybe I can find it somewhere in my file. I remember there were discussions on how long to leave it in. My hepatologist said 4 months, the GI wanted less. The hepatologist won in the end. Hi Chaim, My last stent in this same stricture was in for 8 weeks, and had slipped out and was just peeking into the small intestine when they went in for my stent removal. I'm not sure of this, but maybe they are thinking they'll get in there to replace it with a slightly larger stent before it slips again?? Interesting yours were in for 4 months... I was told at that first ERCP that stents can only stay in for 8 weeks. I wonder if different hospitals just do it differently, or if you had a different kind of stent?
