Janet,

I have had stents put in a few years ago. It

was just the same as a regular ERCP. In my case the stents were put in and

removed a few months later. I haven't had stents for a few years now and all my

LFTs are fine and I am asymptomatic again.

I sure hope they will find that the

nodules are nothing to worry about. You will get your stents then and you will

have them removed later, and maybe new ones will be put in. Like I said, if you

had an ERCP before, you won't know the difference.

Subject: A Lurker

Checking In...

Hi, everyone. I am Janet in Jersey

and I am usually a lurker since

I have been asymptomatic for a few years. However, I read the posts

regularly.

I have a question right now, though. Recently, I have been having

an unusual amount of pain and digestive problems. I had an ERCP two

weeks ago and thought it resolved the issue. However, prior to my

ERCP, in June, I had a CT Scan and they found two small " nodules " in

my liver approximately 1 cm

each. The drs at the time, did not

think it was anything, but the head of radiology said it looked like

cancer. Anyhoo, long story short, yesterday I went to see the dr

who performed the ERCP two week ago and he said because strictures

have closed the main bile duct so much, he will be putting in TWO

stents tomorrow, one large and one small. Anyone every had this

done?

Also, he said he will also try to get a biopsy to try to establish

if, in fact, it is cancer.

Just needed to vent, everyone. I STRONGLY believe in the power of

prayer and I ask all to pray for me as I go in tomorrow morning at

6:00am Eastern Standard Time.

Thanks for listening.....

Janet,If I were you I'd try to get a brushing suitable for the Mayo Clinic to evaluate using their FISH method to see if there is cancer. If there is cancer you want it to be found sooner rather than later. A false negative test would not be good. I believe your doctor will need to contact the Mayo Clinic to see what exactly is needed and to arrange and coordinate getting the specimen to the Mayo Clinic. Yes, this is a lot of trouble, but it could save your life. Dr. Gores is the top doctor in the U.S. who deals with cholangiocarcinoma. If you've been reading the posts, then you already know how bad this cancer is. Here is Dr. Gore's web page:http://www.mayoclinic.org/bio/10017623.htmlAlso, the Mayo Clinic is the facility in the U.S. with the most experience in dealing successfully with cholangiocarcinoma, so if you have it, it would be best to go to the Mayo Clinic.Good luck to you, and keep us posted.Marie
