I just had one last week, called Half Lytely. It's two pills, followed

later by about 2 lt. of solution. I think the taste is quite bearable,

and they give you a few flavor packs to choose from, I liked Lemon

Lime. You drink a glass every 10 minutes or so, and it is not too bad.

Certainly better than the Go Lytely or the dreaded phospho soda!

I'm not sure if this is the one you're thinking of but this one

cleaned me out extremely well when I had a barium enema (unlike my

last colonoscopy prep which almost resulted in a canceled procedure):

1 dose of stool softeners in the late afternoon and 1 in early evening.

2 bottles of a Fleet product which supposedly had a " ginger " flavour

separated by a couple of hours. The Fleet drink was about 125 mL (1/2

cup) and mistakenly I took the first dose straight up followed by 1

glass of water. I took the 2nd dose mixed with water (as prescribed)

followed by the water chaser.

I have to say the taste the first time around was easier to take and a

lot less fluid to have to swallow--probably because I could chug that

little bottle in a few gulps before I realized what it was. And I

think I spent most of my evening reading magazines in the washroom!

Just thought I would put in a tip here. My gastro's procedure is to do

the fleet and my tip of the day is: mix it with ginger ale instead of

water. It cuts down on the horrid taste, the ginger ale is clear

therefore doesn't interfere with the test and the ginger helps with

that yucky, nauseous feeling. I find I can take the phospho much

better this way. I'm sure lots of people already know this trick, but

I thought I would toss it in for those who don't. Take care all and

happy Tuesday (which is, apparently, statistically the most productive

day of the week!) ;)

Mine was (first change in prep in 30 years!):

Dulcolax 2 days prior

Clear liquid diet day before (same as always)

1/2 gallon Gatorade with Miralax night before

10 oz magnesium citrate 4 hours before procedure

See message 101898 and 102971 (and 102979, for a little humor)

Thanks Deb! I have also gotten permission from other GIs to use

grapefruit juice to mix it. It doesn't seem like a clear, but I was

told if it had no pulp it was clear enough. It dramatically cuts the

taste. But of course, ask your own doc!! ;)
