Guest guest
Beth: I can really tell you about that URQ pain! Yes it does radiates into the right shoulder blade and to the back. The right shoulder has become the focus point of the pain for me. Lately, like last night it was radiating even into my left shoulder and back and actually felt it in the center, too. It did seem like it was everywhere. I used to have a kind of mild, achy pain in my upper right side as it is usually described and i was o.k. with that. And sometimes, none. But a change of direction and of intensity has taken place, gradually. I do tend to get those bouts of high intensity pain, so often occuring specially after a meal and i do feel the pressure, as someone in the group has described it. Also, i do get it at home and elsewhere. But the worst is at night at home after the last meal. The interesting thing is that my meals are mostly low in fat, are not big and are spaced through out the day. I even experienced the pain a couple of days after the ERCP. One excplanation i was given is that because of my long time UC, my colon is not able anymore to much handle the pressure exerted on it. It is really affecting my quality of life. About a pain medicine, I do take Tylenol, but only a 325mg dose, sometimes, once a day, and 2/day only if very needed. I was told that it is o.k. But it does not help that much. Recently, my GI has put me on Nortriptylene 10mg. Originally it was used to treat depression. But now it is mostly used for pain. It also help with the sleep. It did alleviate the pain for about 2weeks or a little more and then back to same. My doctor has told me to increase it to 20mg but i haven't, yet. That is good that the pain would at least subside when you are at home. And may be you want to watch for what is triggering those flares that you do get at your night shifts. Take care. Subject: Re: High Dose Urso Study To: Date: Thursday, June 19, 2008, 7:10 PM ------I do have a question though for you guys--Do some of you have pain in the RUQ in the back like under the ribs? I most times have just a mild ache there, but sometimes when I am working (CNA overnights at a teaching hospital) the pain will flair up really bad about 3/4 way through my shift. The mild pain does go away most of the time when I am at home. I try not to take anything for the pain because I can't take NSAIDs or aspirin because of ringing in my ears. And now I try not to take tylenol because I know it is hard on the liver. Just a quick question, Beth B (Thornton,CO)

Guest guest
, thanks for your response as I am just at the very beginning of my learning curve with PSC. I understood ulcerative colitis, and pancreatitis (went through both with my Mom and then myself) but my Mom doesn't have any symptoms of PSC other than her GI checks her liver enzymes every few months. When I do my searches on the internet the information is so sparse and general that it really does not help that much. This makes me so glad that I found this group. Thanks again for your response, Beth B > > From: b_brandel58 > Subject: Re: High Dose Urso Study > To: > Date: Thursday, June 19, 2008, 7:10 PM > > > ------I do have a question though for you guys--Do some of you have pain in > the RUQ in the back like under the ribs?
