Guest guest
I've been seeing Dr. Lindor once a year for the past 6 years (not this year yet). My advice to you is the same I'd tell anyone, come with questions in hand, written down. Dr. Lindor and his Nurse Practitioner, Gossard, have always been very patient with me.And make sure your questions are open ended questions not yes/no questions.Dike Ajiripsc 2002

Guest guest
I wrote about the few words... I was really shocked when I first met him and was completely unprepared. Basically my GI doctor at Mayo had me do an ERCP. When I met him to go over the results, he told me I have PSC and said, " The world expert on PSC is here at Mayo, do you want me to see if he can see you now? " So he literally went down the hall and grabbed Dr. Lindor, who was I believe in a bit of a rush. That's the amazing thing about Mayo, within minutes of diagnosis I was facing the number one expert. I was shocked and didn't even know what to ask, so not having asked much I didn't get much info... I called him about a week later with a few questions and he answered all of them. I would say that compared to other doctors I've had he's unlikely to chat and just talk or elaborate much. I've had doctors who provide much more information than I ask for, which I actually like because I don't always know what to ask! So I was a little disappointed by that. Now looking back I see that everything I understand now from what I've learned on this group and elsewhere was contained in his answers, but there just wasn't the kind of elaboration that I've received here. But I don't doubt that he's the absolute best and I have every intention to continue with him. Moreover, my experience is that once you build a relationship with a doctor you better learn how to interact with them. I was just so surprised when I saw him that I even had PSC, I was unprepared. So I echo others' advice to have your questions ready. And remember you can always call if you come up with questions later, which is what I did. Good luck! My experiences at Mayo, which have included surgery, have been amazing. It's an amazing place.
