Guest guest
Some doctors have IV centers right in their offices. For other places to get iron IVs, see this post: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/36032 How long it takes depends on the brand and strength of iron, and if you have low blood pressure. I get Venofer 5 mL single dose vials (100 mg elemental iron per 5 mL). These take 1/2 an hour; back when I had low blood pressure they slowed the rate of infusion and it took 1 1/2 hours. Here's a post about that, as well as some links to the experiences of others on the group who've had iron IVs: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/42122 My Venofer costs about $75 a vial (the price has changed recently), and the Dr. charges $70 to administer it. How many IVs to get varies a LOT from person to person, and also, once again, with the brand and the strength of the iron. Testing along the way is essential.
