Guest guest
Oh Tigger - manipulate a rib? That sounds painful. And I'm so sorry about the frozen shoulder. I had shoulder surgery is '03 for a torn rotator cuff, bone spur and a SLAP tear, which is the bicep ligament gets ripped from where it attaches to the shoulder. That in itself was painful enough and they kept warning me about not getting a frozen shoulder. Luckily I didn't. From what I understand they can be very intense. Thinking good thoughts for you. Teri (central Wisconsin) Re: Need advice or input please I have had rib pain too before. I guess it is the costochondritis or just one of fibro's wierd little tricks. I just don't think doctors know what to do with us. I mean sometimes it can be a dislocated rib. Sometimes it can be something else. But I say it is fibro especially since yours comes and goes just like the other pain with fibro moves around our body. Hope you feel better. hugs, Debra V. I'm kind of frustrated because over the last 2 years I've had 3 different doctors diagnose me with 3 different things. I have a sharp, burning pain right below my left breast on my lower ribs. When I push against it, it hurts worse. There are days when it's really, really bad like yesterday - had to take an extra dose of pain meds and applied heat all day long. Then there are other days when it's not there at all. Wearing a bra hurts - so I generally don't. The frustration is that the three docs said three different things: pleurisy (and gave me antibiotics) - a possible ulcer (and prescribed prevacid) and costochondroits (anti-inflammatories). I am leaning toward the costo from all the reading I've been doing. I know others have experienced this too and would appreciate any opinions or feedback. Guest guest
> Tigger, I have never tried to manupulate a rib, but I have had painful knots that seem to push up between two of my lower ribs on the left side! All I can do when that happens, is sit back, push on the tissue, grimace and wait for the pain to go away!! As to those good ole frozen shoulders, both of mine have been. I got a shot of whatever it is they give the ball players in the right shoulder, did physcial therapy and finally with the right shoulder, the ortho doc had to do an outpatient procedure on me --- and if you don't want to know how they do that, then don't read the rest of this posting! I was given a general anesthetic, they wheeled me in to the surgical room and he apparently just took that right arm and rotated it manually as far back as he could!!!! While I was still in the recovery room, he called my husband and said, that, the longer he had been doing that procedure, the more cautious he had become, so that when he felt some real resistance, he stopped!!! But that spring and summer I had two cousins who also had frozen shoulders. The oldest of the two brother's is the more practical one and he also got physical therapy. The one who is my age and thinks he knows everything (Well, I guess that could be true, we do remember more than anyone else in the extended family --- his brother has shortened the time frame for our memories from years and now it is several months prior to our births! but we are entitled to that, we were born in a very important year in the history of the 20th century -- 1945!) Anyway, Mr. Smarty, I know it all, did not like the young wipersnapper so he change ortho docs and saw the father!! Of course, the treatment was pretty much the same but Jeff asked for the easiest and fastest way --- couldn't mess up his golfing for long --- so, being the cheapskate, he bought a pulley, installed it somewhere and just did so many of those up and down movements every day!! But I do have to say that we were all three very fortunate that we only had one frozen shoulder that year as their sister had had both of her's frozen at one time. And after having had the one frozen one, I recognized very early that the range of motion in the left one was getting shorter so I went to the doctor right away and got PT almost immediately. I just think it is not so nice getting older (mind you, I did NOT say old! yet!) Good luck Tigger with those ribs and other damages from the fall. > > Re: Need advice or input please > > I have had rib pain too before.
