Just browsing Lucy's kitchen shop, and I noticed that the recommended calcium dose was 5 a day!!!! Seems like a lot to me. Would the multivitamin alone (and the diet) generally provide enough calcium? Should I take calcium since I'm a teen girl? Is it true they/we need more than normal? I'm confused. 5 a day just seems like an awful lot!!!Thanks! Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa =D

-It's not a large dose, and calcium is better absorbed in smaller doses

throughout the day- so the 5 doses is better. I take them 2 at a time though,

for convenience.

Adolescence is the time that you build up bone, after menopause you loose it, so

now is the best time to take plenty of calcium- for now and for later. Weight

bearing activity is necessary too.

So yes, you need calcium, and stay active. The multivitamins don't have enough

on their own. As always, best to check with your doctor first.

I'm currently taking the SCD calcium, but I only take 2 pills. I get a lot of

calcium in my diet, so I find it unnecessary to take the full amount.
