Guest guest
Hi Bruce, I was in Kyoto. Food was expensive but very very good ( I am talking about the FRESH grilled versions of beef and fish, sushi, fruits and yogurt). Be prepared to pay about 20 dollars for breakfast (OUTSTANDING buffer in the hotel) and for a dinner and lunch about 30 to 60 dollars each (good news I had business dinners and didn't pay for majority of my meals).... You can always find cheaper food but I was not taking any risks with food on the street and other fry staff that you can buy anywhere......threfore I looked for some good sushi and kobi beef restaurants. I have to say that I have no regrets about spending more money on food as I had no problems with my GI during my stay there. In the room I had a water boiler and refrigirator. I could drink my mint tea without paying for it ( I brought my tea, legal cookies for snack ( which I didn't eat) and nuts) So,if you want to eat well, ask someone in the hotel where are the LOCALS eating. Places that are usually recommended for the tourists not so good ( especially for the money $$$ you pay). So, I would look for places that are small and loved by local people. I hope it helps, Subject: Re: If you were forced to eat an illegalTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, May 28, 2009, 11:15 PM >> HI Bruce,> > I was in Japan for 10 day ( for work) last year and I can let you know that it will not be a problem to find legal foods there!!!! The quality of food is amazing: yogurt, meats and fish!!!! in the morning you can have omelet, just eggs, fluit ( fresh), amazing fresh juices ( not from the cans) and etc., > Western diet is also available.> > > Hey thanks, this puts my mind at ease a little. Few questions about Japan - Were you in tokyo? Roughly, how many yen did you need for 10 days? Any sights you would recommend seeing? Thanks.
