Guest guest
I seem to have a harder time getting over things like colds and flus since having PSC. Growing up I rarely got sick and would recover pretty quickly. But the last three times I have really gotten sick and have been pretty much out of commission for a week solid. Has anyone else found this to be the case since developing PSC? Just wondering if it coincidental or if there is a link. Thanks! Guest guest
I've noticed it takes much longer for scraps and minor cuts to completely heal, but I not sure its related to the PSC or just that I'm older now and don't have the growth hormones now (the only place I ever grow now is around the middle). Guest guest
,I get the flu shot so fortunately I haven't gotten the flu. But the last cold I got put me out of commission for 2 weeks solid. I avoid people who are sick with colds, sore throats, etc. I'm also on prednisone & imuran which are immunosuppressants. These are for autoimmune hepatitis, which I also have.Marie UC 1970, J-pouch 2005, PSC & AIH 2006 (PSC suspected since 2000) I seem to have a harder time getting over things like colds and flus since having PSC. Guest guest
Hi , Our son Eemeli (11-yo) takes the flu shot every year. When he was on prednisone his flus often lasted 2 weeks with a total recovery time of 6 weeks at worst. Now he is on azathioprine which is also an immunosuppressant but he does not get the flus as easily as before. I do not knwo if this is true with others or just with our son. But when he does get a flu, it takes longer for him to recover from them than before PSC but not as long as when he was on prednisone for PSC. And even a slight flu always affects his ALT and ALP values. ALT goes from normal till 100-200, and ALP rises about 100 units from our son's normal which is about 200 units higher than the regular " normal " at his age group. So we also try to have him avoid people with colds. Taru-Mari > I seem to have a harder time getting over things like colds and flus > since having PSC. Guest guest
When you have a major organ already under stress, it most likely will take someone a longer time to recover from any other illness. With that said I also think we have to becareful when thinking OMG I just sneezed is this PSC related!! , RN PSC 5/07 Listed
