Guest guest
Seems like an awfully stupid way to run a program -- only the lawyers are getting rich. Our gov't at work...>>>> I agree it is a pretty dumb way to do it but you really don't need a lawyer. We did it ourselves all 3 times and like athon said just repeat what you said the first time since you were telling the truth the first time. We were ready to send in the 1st appeal when our house burned which meant all our documentation burned also. That made it a little toughter but with a little time (ok, lots of time - we were a little busy trying to salvage and then rebuild the house) we were able to reproduce what we sent the first time. Guest guest
Does anyone know about SS benefits for a child with PSC/UC/AIH. We were told to apply for it since our daughter kept missing school and we kept missing work. Sent in the paperwork and it was returned month later with a denial saying colitis is not a reason for disability. They didn't even read about the PSC oh and i think the even spelled colitis wrong lol. Applied again and this time they spelled PSC wrong and said no again.Need a new ride? Guest guest
I did all of my SS disability online, never had to go anywhere, the doctors all wrote good notes on the disease and I got disability two months after I submitted, I will be getting the Medicare part May 1 which they make you wait two years for. I have not got some of the problems that others have, but know that I could no longer put in a fell day of work. Good Luck, and hope you get it the first time. Guest guest
I applied for SS disability on October 10, 2007 and was approved without a single appeal in February '08. I am fortunate, and I use the term lightly, that I had lots of other GI problems in addition to PSC that were documented in my long medical history. I know that I had God on my side throughout the entire process. I was also very fortunate to be interviewed by a competant government psychologist who immediately said that I had been through enough pain and misery for one person and I needed to step out of the work world for good. I had tortured myself by working non-stop for 32 years the last ten of which I was in agony 8 days each week. My dear friends, please stay persistent in your application for disability, it may take several attempts or just one attempt but it is the best option for us. Guest guest
I agree, don't give your money to an attorney. Just give them everything your have from your doctors and be precise about everything. I didn't have a probem at all, in fact everyone was bending over backwards to help me at Social Security, my company's long term disability program. I think that it helps if you are working to get your company's disability (shorr term and long term)first as it takes 6 months to get social security and that let's them know that you have already been approved as to not being able to work. At least that worked for me. Also I was refused for life insurance a long time ago due to my disease and blood work. but now I have been offered a life insurance policy from the long term disability company for more than I got when I was working. Hang in there!!! RE: Re: Disability/PSC - not an automatic acceptance -----Original Message----- pretty much everyone gets rejected and you have to appeal. Seems like an awfully stupid way to run a program -- only the lawyers are getting rich. Our gov't at work... We didn¢t have a single problem getting disability for Ken. I put together a notebook, we took it to the SS office and Ken was notified in less than a month that he was approved. That was about 4 years before he was even listed. It takes time, but if done right (the way they like), no one should have any trouble getting approved. Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes!
