I'm about to get some estrogen vaginal suppositories compounded with cortisone today or tomorrow from my doctor, so I'll yet you know if I have any symptoms....

Hello,

I am using a compound which has Lidocaine, Estrogen, Neurontin and

Ketprofen. I just started it 2 days ago, and it BURNS like crazy for

about 45 minutes. I was told to expect this, so I am not worried about

it. But, I noticed that in the morning (I apply the medicine at night)

the vulva skin seems swollen, but not inflammed. I was told that

estrogen topically is used to strenghten and "plump-up" the skin, but

am not sure if this is what I am seeing. Has anyone else had this

strange side effect?

Also, this medicine makes the red and irritated patches much more red

and irritated. The redness decreases as the day wears on. Any other

similar experiences out there?

What is the base that it is compounded in? I can't have my estrogen compounded in acid mantle because it burns. Maybe it's the base. When they told you to expect burning, did they say which ingredient would cause it? I use topical estradiol/testosterone and don't have any additional burning from it.

I'm highly allergic to glycerine.

My doctor is compounding cortisone (for the itching and inflammation) and some estrogen for me. I'm not sure yet what kind of base it's going to be in but I suggested cocoa butter because I know I'm not allergic to that. She knows I have multiple allergies so I know she'll do whatever is best.

I've been itching and burning like crazy and have no yeast now and no bacterial infection. I'm going nuts. I tend to scratch myself in my sleep and wake up raw. It's horrible.

She thinks I do have lichen sclerosis which is why she's treating it with the cortisone suppositories. (In addition to the chronic yeast infections and vestibulitis)

Some have reported burning with lidocaine but not for 45 minutes. I wonder why

they use Berg Oil as a base. That would surely be irritating. It contains

turpentine and other weird stuff.

Lidocaine can burn initially before the numbing kicks in.

The Estrogen should plump up the skin but I don't believe it should

be quite like that. It wasn't for me. But then I was not using the

compound you are. I use Estrace.

The Estrogen should plump up the skin but I don't believe it should

be quite like that. It wasn't for me. But then I was not using the
