Eva, I would call the doc's office and ask if he works with Vulvar pain patients. I've found a uro/gyn the most helpful type of doc in my area. Even he isn't as educated as I wish he was...but that is okay. I arm myself with info when I go to him and so far he has allowed me to try everything I've asked for. Keep in mind, though, that I definitely have noticed a hormonal component to all this for myself. Whether or not to stop the birth control pill is really your own decision. If you think it is related to your pain, you won't know unless you stop using them. But if you are taking it for others reasons, say to help with Endo pain, then you have to take everything into consideration. Again, I'm not crazy about the pill and I think it's caused more harm than good...but that is just my opinion. Don't give up...keep doing research and keep trying.... learn all you possibly can.

I made anappointment with the only listed doctor in my area, and now doingfurther research his only listed specialties are urogynecology andrelated pelvic floor disorders. Is it relevant or appropriate for meto be going to this doctor for vulvar vestibulitis? I'm more hesitantbecause when I called and talked to his nurse practitioner to ask if Ishould go ahead and stop using Ortho Tricyclen-Lo (since I've heard sooften it can cause or worsen this condition), she had never heard ofany link between vulvar vestibulitis and oral b.c.And finally, if I can't go to this doctor, who can I go to? I don'thave the money to join the NVA and

access their list of specialists(even if there are really any in my area, which is Greenville, SC),and I don't know how to find a gynecologist who knows a good amountabout vulvar vestibulitis, since my list gyno gave me lidocaine anddidn't make any further attempt to treat it.I'm lost. Help?**IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, Thanks for your cooperation! *****

Eva,

Some urogynecologists are experienced at treating vulvodynia

such as vestibulodynia (formerly known as vulvar vestibulitis

syndrome). So this doctor might be able to help you figure out

what's going on.

Kristy :)
