Thanks you so much for the reply and for the advice. I still have

not taken the Elavil, but have found something natural that seems (so

far) to help me sleep. It's called Valerian Herb. It's the herb

that the prescription Valium is derived from. You can get it at any

store that carries vitamins. (I got mine at Meijers).

Just a warning, it is the WORST smelling vitamin I have ever come

across!!! But I am feeling more refreshed upon waking and I don't

seem to have any ill side effects. It induces sleep and relaxes

muscles, so I take one capsule before bedtime.

The reason I am so adamant against taking Elavil (aside from

potential weight gain) is that my mother is a chemist at university

and after speaking with a few of her collegues called me and warned

me of potential side effects. Although they are not the ones in

pain, I worry if I start taking this medication at 32 when the pain

is still bearable, will it work at 42 if the pain continues to

worsen?

I probably worry too much, but again so far the natural approach is

working in addition to massage therapy and watching my diet. I've

discovered that even one measly chocolate Entemann's donut will throw

me into a full blow flare.

I'm going to try the natural approach as long as it works and then

I'll turn to Western medications. I just don't want to start with

the " big guns " at this early age.

Okay, now I'm starting to ramble. But thanks again for the advice.

Elavil, amitrip gave me that drugged feeling the next

day. Valerian by itself didn't seem to work as well as

Sure Sleep by TheraCeuticals Intn. It contains

hydroxytroptophan and a blend of chinese herbs. Glad

you found what works for you. My daughter-in-law took

Valerian and had horrible nightmares. Be careful

aabout taking anything long term. Lovingly, Star
