I don't know 100% what goes on there, but it say to " increase salaries " . I

don't think it said to pay one paramedic's salary. I think it said they will

hold the money in " reserve " to help pay for paramedics. I say GOD BLESS those

that care and do not make snide remarks about them or the donors. I can tell you

as one that had to do EMS Rodeos, dances, raffles, ect' that to raise $44,000 is

NO easy job. Have you ever tried it? Have you? If so what did you raise? That

brings about a good question on here. What is the most money raise by you or

your organization in a single fundraiser? What made it so successful? What are

some of the best fundraising ideas that have actually worked, and not just an

idea?

Nice to see them trying to improve from a BLS to an ALS service. They have

$44000 so they can almost pay 1 Paramedic for a year now. At least its a start.

The sad part is that all over the US fund raisers are the main funding

stream for fire and EMS systems whee no " real " funding stream really

is in place.

In one system I'm aware of they do a huge chicken BBQ for thier VFD

and FR service each year. They literally depend on this annual event

for 1/2 thier budget. They do it on the second Saturday of June. They

also pray for a good weather day as if it rains they are screwed.

Great way to fund emergency services!
