Guest guest
Genevieve, Sorry it took so long to answer, the kids have been on holidays so the computer was abandoned for a week or two. I take Questran for the itching, and have found it miraculous. Sometimes I forget to take it, then when I get the itches again, I remember. I need it about 4 times a week, s o maybe my itching isn't as much as everyone else's, but it works for me. Penny T (Australia)
Guest guest
Thanks so much to everyone who chimed in about the Questran.... It's working!!!!! I've been taking it for 5 days now, and I'm going on 24 hours without a SINGLE itching episode. It kicked in just in time--two nights ago I had one of those evenings where I seriously considered taking a chainsaw to my ankles to make my feet stop itching. I was using sharp objects to itch the bottoms of my feet, doing ice bath plunges, the whole works. TG for modern medicine! While the powder is foul, it's definitely not the worst thing I've been forced to consume after these many years of IBD. It's not that bad, I've learned, when mixed really well with orange juice. I use a straw to drink it REALLY fast, and stick the straw as far back into my throat as I possibly can--I get almost no taste that way, and none of the gritty texture in the front of the mouth. Makes it bearable. Thanks again, all. My next MRCP and clinic appointment are this coming Thursday. Hoping things look good.... Guest guest
Genevieve, Thanks so much for this! I need to put together a list of Qs for the New Guy this week. My f/u appointment is on the 28th and I don't want to walk out of there without a Questran script. My feet and palms drive me up a wall. Some nights I am so sad that it is time to go to bed, as I know the itching becomes unavoidable at that hour. I'm covered with scratches these days. Guest guest
Colleen: When questran works it works well. I was on 6 packets a day (down to 4 now) and it's not nearly as effective as it was maybe 20 years ago. I've only had the itching back for not quite 2 years. I also take Rifampin and Tan for the UVB exposure to help. I find mixing it with just water (You must shake it in a bottle, don't even try to stir it) mixes the best. I also take it with meals so it's not that bad at all. I also don't mind it at all. I guess I've just gotten used to it.
Guest guest
I haven't read the previous e-mails on Questran, so i am not too sure if everyone is aware of this, that there should be two hours min between taking Urso and Questran, I think. Just like Urso and Calcium. I hope that some one from the group, would know more accurately about that.
