Guest guest
Against my better judgement, I have had the prescription from my reg. doctor filled for Elavil/amitriptalyine. I am very nervous about taking this drug. I was told that for the first 3 days I wouldn't feel like myself and be " foggy brained and sluggish " . (Ummm...hello! I already have that - it's called fibromyalgia!) I just wanted to ask all of you your feelings on Elavil IF you have taken it. My dr. told me that I'd need to stay on it for at least a week to see if I needed to change dosages and that peak performance of the drug is after about 4 - 6 weeks. He mentioned I may not have trouble at all, but if I did - it was " normal " and to expect it. The first 3 days of " sluggy brain " supposedly will wear off. I really don't want to take this drug unless necessary, but I was also prescribed it for another adjoining (possible fibro- related) syndrome that causes pain. Please let me know your experiences. I trust the other fibro sufferers more than the dr.'s sometimes. At least you guys KNOW how the drug is versus the dr.'s who read the packet inserts. Thanks!
