I came home from the hospital yesterday (after 11 days). Am weaker than I ever imagined possible. Can barely manage to hold myself up to sit in a chair. Still spiking daily fevers (presently 100.8), with some of the pain and nausea ongoing, just not to the extent it had been. Dr. said that basically I was treading water and could either remain in hospital or go home, whichever I preferred. Well, duhhh!! That was a no-brainer. Or so I thought. Today I'm not quite so sure I should have come home so quickly but at least now that I'm able to eat a bit, I can get food that's actually fit for human consumption, and can sleep in my own bed. I'm struggling terribly, but time will tell. They never could figure out what's wrong. But at least my potassium is back to normal and I learned to give myself the Lovenox injections (to dissolve that big clot in my portal vein); 150 mg twice a day. Funny .... but I don't bruise nearly so badly from my own injections as when the nurses gave 'em to me!! My bruise collection is quite a colorful and extensive one covering nearly every part of my body at this point. Will try to find strength to update my care page tomorrow. Please keep the prayers coming! We're not out of the woods yet by any stretch. Regards, Carolyn B. in SC
