Colleen,

The wool sounds interesting. I have developed skin sensitivity and cannot

tolerate any wool next to my skin. I also can't do linen. Go figure. I go with a

high count egyptian cotton sheet--at least 500. I had a hysterectomy (left my

ovaries in) two years ago. I am so glad I did. I do not do HRT, but my ovaries

are still putting out a bit. I got so sick with both my UC and PSC and

fibromyalgia with every cycle. It is commonly accepted but little understood

fact that autoimmune diseases flare during women's cycles. I drive my husband

crazy at night. I moan and cry in my sleep, I scratch my skin all over, and I

get muscles spasms in my legs and feet. then the stupid blood spots from tearing

at my skin. I wash my sheets so often any more. he's really nice about it I must

say.

I was wondering if you follow a low sodium diet since you are eating fermented

foods like sauerkraut (sp), etc? I haven't added salt to food for ages. I eat

low sodium. I miss salt a lot. I do cheat and eat foods I shouldn't when we go

out to eat. I do have edema and ascities. Some times I crave things like green

olives, Sauerkraut, pickles, but they are so high in sodium. Take care, cheryl

Cheryl,

No, I do not follow a low-salt diet. I used to be all about sweets, but my

cravings now are

more salty. No one has ever mentioned going low salt to me, but I'm not to that

point yet -

- at least I don't think I am.

There is no question that the second half of my cycle, my colitis bothers me. I

charted,

temped, etc. to get PG (sympto-thermal method?) and I've concluded that it is

after

ovulation, when the progesterone levels drop off dramatically, that is what

causes the flare

up. It also makes sense as to why many women go into remission during PG.

Progesterone

skyrockets in PG and remains elevated for the 9 months.

As for the wool, it is a filling material -- like down, but more breathable. How

sorry I am

for you that you are sensitive. I would be heartbroken if that were me, as I

love

knitting/spinning with it. They are my Zen hobbies that have gotten me through a

lot of

tough patches.
