Guest guest
, I apologize in advance for being upfront...Why are you going on Remicade for and for what condition? I'm currently on Remicade since summer of 2005 and Methotrexate for Crohn's. Every other medication failed and my option was to go on Remicade...the flare-ups have been kept to a minimum (not as severe as they were). Only this year I developed a small bowel obstruction and spent 26 days in hospital. The side effects I have experienced since starting Remicade is abdominal pain and headaches. After the 3rd infusion, asked my dr, to prescribe IV anti-nausea medications and IV Benadryl, is for not to get a severe allergic reaction to Remicade. Since I don't live in the US, I don't know how expensive it is. As you may find you may not experience side effects. If you decide to go on Remicade, you'll need to do at TB test. I had to do it, before starting Remicade. Here's the website for Remicade http://www.remicade.com/remicade/assets/Med_Guide.pdf it explains what Remicade is, allergic reactions you can get and more information etc...and discuss your concerns with your doctor. I hope the information helps! IrenePF 03/07 Raynaud's Disease 09/07 Re: NSIP & IPF Tom,I am curious about what you think about Remicade. Guest guest
Irene, A friend had heard that Remicade was being used to treat Dermatomyositis. Although experimental, it is thought to help. I was told it was more for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am being treated with Imuran and Prednisone for Dermatomyositis and NSIP. Since the Prednisone wasn't working as desired they added Imuran. Now my pulmonologist wants to add Colchicine. Colchicine is usually given to people with Gout but showed to be of some help for people with lung diseases. I'm thinking of sticking with the Prednisone/Imuran treatment until I can research this more. I definitely don't need anymore side effects. Thanks for your help, > > > > > > Bruce, > > > > > > I am on 10mg Prednisone & 125mg Imuran. I was originally on 60mg > > > Prednisone but I wasn't responding like they thought I should. Guest guest
Irene, Dermatomyositis is an autoimmune disease and a chronic inflammatory muscle disorder. It primarily affects the thighs. My elbows, knees, and knuckles are red. I just drove from Dallas to Los Angeles for a vacation. It took me two days and each time I got out to get gas I was walking like a 90 yr old man. Simply not walking about will make my thighs weak or being in a cold restaurant will be difficult to get up and leave. By the way, on the way home I had a friend drive me to Phoenix and my brother flew into Phoenix and drove me back to Dallas because the pain was so severe. You can check out myositis.org for more info as well. 40/Tx: IPF, NSIP dx 09/2007 VATS Dermatomyositis, Pneumomediastinum, Atrial Fibrillations 125mg Imuran / 10mg Prednisone / 25mg Metoprolol / 1,000mg Niaspan > > > > > > > > Bruce, > > > > > > > > I am on 10mg Prednisone & 125mg Imuran.
