Guest guest
Hi Bettyann; By my calculations your dose is 40.83 mg/kg/d. I'm sorry but I havn't seen any studies where this dose has been tested in PSC or other liver diseases. One study by Adolf Stiehl has shown that at doses above 25 mg/kg/d the percent of urso (UDCA) in the bile levels off at around 50% - 60%. They didn't go much higher than a dose of 32 mg/kg/d in this study: Rost D, Rudolph G, Kloeters-Plachky P, Stiehl A 2004 Effect of high- dose ursodeoxycholic acid on its biliary enrichment in primary sclerosing cholangitis. Hepatology 40: 693-698. http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/fulltext/109606288/PDFSTART Based on the results of this study it's likely (by extrapolation) that there would be little change in your bile acid composition between a dose of 32 and 41 mg/kg/d, and I would have no reason to suspect that there would be any harmful effects. The main thing is that you are not having any side effects! Best regards, Dave (father of (22); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03) > > , I weigh 108 lbs and take 2000 mg of urso a day, has there ever been any study done saying how much would be harmful. I have no problem with side affects,
