Recection is not a solution, so > what is? ================ Colleen -- The first time they tried to get into my central duct, they couldn't do it, either. They then sent me to MUSC so the drs. who work with the transplant team could do it. They got the job done with no problem and also kept me overnight for observation. Hang in there. You just have to find someone who is more skilled than the dr. who tried today. Regards, Carolyn B. in SC

Guest guest
Colleen, I concur with the group. I had 2 unsuccessful ERCPs in 1999 and was convinced that it was impossible, or at least life-threatening, for any doctor to complete the process. I was very frustrated and felt hopeless. I switched doctors 6 years later, and found an endoscopic specialist who told me he's never failed to complete an ERCP. I googled him and learned that he's an international expert on performing ERCPs. The procedure went smoothly and I felt 10 times better the very next day. Don't give up. Let's hope your physician will have the courage to admit that maybe somebody more experienced should be brought in to try a second time. It's hard for some doctors to admit that they can't do it all. But then none of us can. Ask about getting an endoscopic specialist - even if you need to go to a bigger city to have the work performed, it's worth it! Debbie in Seattle UC '72, JPouch '91, PSC '99, Stage 2 and stable I had my ERCP today to dilate my strictures and take brushings, but the doctor who did the procedure was unable to get the balloon device into the stricture, so the procedure was pretty much a bust.
