Guest guest
Well, I missed a whole week of you guys! I went last Sunday by ambulance to the hospital due to shooting pains in my lower legs and the inability to stand up without passing out (I didn't black out but had the spots and dizziness and ended up sprawled out on my bedroom floor). Anyhow, I had a severe electrolyte imbalance, my renal function was way off and my kidneys were trying to shut down because of the amount of lasix I was on due to the allergic reaction. While I was there, the ER doc ran some tests and they found a blood clot in my rt leg so the allergic reaction in a sense saved my life. I spent a week attached to an IV to get all my renal/kidney functions correct and a week on blood thinners and came home on more. The good thing is - fibro wise I didn't have much pain other than my low back is flaring because of the hospital bed. No matter what I did, or how I positioned it or how many pillows, etc., I couldn't get the pain to go away. But my doctor is awesome - he left orders for darvocet for pain (which I take at home as a last resort) so I took a few of them during the week. I am hoping NOT to flare - I am physically fatigued - as anyone who has been in the hospital knows, they come in at all hours of the day and night to do stuff to you and because of my situation and diagnosis, they were constantly in there drawing blood. I do look like a human pincushion and my stomach, from all the blood thinner shots is literally black, blue and purple. But the good news is - there are no other blockages in my arteries or veins so no surgeries. They have me off my blood pressure meds for the time being; I have to monitor it at home. They have me completely off the steroids (yeah!) so all my swelling is starting to go down and that should help the fibro because I won't be so inflamed. The downside to all the swelling is that the blood had to go somewhere and it pooled in my feet so my rt foot is covered in blood blisters that will have to go away on their own. Anyhow - I wanted to welcome all the newbies - you will get a lot of support, caring, concern and love here - there are folks who have been dealing with this a long time; understand that what works for one may not work for another, but we have lots of folks so you may find some excellent tips here. Marti, I hope you are doing well; every time you came to mind I said a little prayer for you and your chemo. (herbal), leave the man - find a shelter and just go. They will help you get back on your feet. The stress is NOT helping your fibro one bit (which you know). We'll be here for you; I think a lot of us have been in that boat before. ((((Hugs to all))))) I missed you guys and the group. Just wanted to update you on my thrilling, exciting week! Darlene
