As W is running as a New Hampshire state representative candidate (http://www.goffstownwearedemocrats.org/CampaignStatement.htm), I was able to locate an email address for her. Below is her response.

Arne

Thank you so much for remembering me. That is so sweet. I am doing quite well, with normal liver enzymes and few problems from the transplant. Handi gave me a wonderful liver. I just can't believe it has been seven years.

Handi still lives in Indianapolis, still shows poodles, and still runs Indianapolis poodle rescue. Two years ago she received a little toy poodle who had been through some rough times as a stray. When the owner wasn't found, Handi spent a month and lots of vet bills rehabilitating him. I then adopted him, and "ny" has been a great joy. So Handi wound up giving me not only part of her liver, but also a dog!!! She is truly an angel on earth, and I still can't believe I received such a miracle. I hope all are doing well. I had a rough time when Ed died and had to separate myself from the group. Gracie and Ed were at New England Med during my transplant, and while I received the gift of life, there was not a good living donor match for Ed. When he finally received his liver, he was too sick to survive. I saw him in intensive care just before he died, and the pain and struggle he went through was too much. My heart still hurts for Gracie's loss. On the brighter side, a woman with PBC was at NEMC waiting for a transplant. After she and her husband saw that Handi and I made it, her husband Al decided to donate part of his liver to her. She will be nearing seven years post transplant in a few months. Please feel free to pass the email along and let everyone know that I so appreciated their support and prayers. It was their support that gave me the strength to hang on for Handi's miracle. I wish them all well.
