Guest guest
My son was afraid to poop on potty. Finally At around 41/2 he did it after telling him he couldHave frogs if he did and finally he wanted thoseFrogs bad enough that he did. Another thing I did was I let him sit on potty with diaper onAnd once he could poop in diaper on potty I Loosened the tape while he sat on potty and then gradually moved toJust laying diaper on seat and then removing Diaper finally all together. He was just afraid to Let poop fall in potty. Got over it though. I never forcedHim, I figured he'd do it eventually so I just helpedHim along a little. Hope this helps, good Luck!DebbieSent from my iPhone I have a 4 1/2 year old . He is in Potty Training. He is peeing by himself, but rejects doing #2. He sits but doesn't go for some reason. We've been with him waiting for him to go for about one hour, but refuses to go (#2) Once he gets up, he asks for diaper and poops on diaper. I'd appreciate for any ideas or help on this. Thank you. Guest guest
We finally took our son to a pediatric gastroenterologist because his "stool withholding" issues were pretty bad. The advice was to give him some mineral oil every day - to make the stool more slippery and thus harder to keep in. We were also instructed to give him Benefiber daily. I don't recall how much of these things we gave him.... it would be best to check with the pediatrician. We were also instructed to make him sit on the potty for 5 minutes .... I think it was after dinner. It turned out that Ian needed about 15 minutes. We had to be very strict with the routines.but it really helped. The doctor also told us to use a suppository if he didn't poop every day..... maybe it was within 24 hours? I'm sorry, it was about 6 years ago and I don't remember some of the details. Anyway, we only had to use the suppository once and he really made an effort to go on the toilet to avoid getting another suppository. He said that it hurt his bottom. It took a while to establish the new routine but I think he responded pretty well. He's independent now but I still sometimes notice that he's trying to hold it in and I remind him to go to the bathroom. If he refuses I remind him about how uncomfortable constipation is and I tell him that we have some suppositories in case he needs them after holding it in. That usually sends him straight to the bathroom! Good luck! Just remember that you need to have a great deal of patience. I have a 4 1/2 year old . He is in Potty Training. Guest guest
I would sit in the bathroom for 30 minutes to an hour with my son while he sat on the potty. We would read books, sing songs, check emails, etc. All to no avail. Then one day I came home from work and my husband told me our son pooped in the potty twice! I was like how did you do that? He told me he just gave him some privacy and when he finished going poo he yelled for my husband to come see it. He has been doing that ever since. I guess I was just crowding my son out when all he needed was a little alone time on the throne. Who knew? Re: Potty Training / Help on #2 My son was afraid to poop on potty.
