Guest guest
Dear Fellow Advocates,Please send to all parents, PTSA members and any other organizations that serve children with disabilities. The state needs to stop these changes to the grading system. If this passes as is, it will reverse all the inclusion efforts that have been in place for years. We must inform the State Board of Education that this is unacceptable and needs to be revised. Our children with disabilities will not be wanted in schools, because their grade will affect the school's grade. The attachments are described below. Please do not wait, the State Board meets on February 28. Time is of the essence. Attached please find: A spreadsheet detailing some current school grade rules, proposed changes to those rules, the opinion of OCPS's ESE Department, and the opinion of the OCPS ESE Parent Support Team on those rules; and a Word document with " talking points " correlating to the spreadsheet. Here are links to two YouTube videos posted by parents. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV39W5te6q4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf_PhoZTGDI . If any of you would like to put your own video regarding the proposed rule changes on YouTube, please send us all a link so we can forward it to others. Also, PLEASE NOTE the contact information for the FLDOE contact on the proposed rule changes is at the end of the video. It says, lynn.abbott@.... Please forward this email to all concerned parents and organizations that may have a concern on how Florida schools are graded. Thanks!
