Genevieve,I would be interested in seeing what you have written. And what a great idea. I had a colectomy in 2000 and a j-pouch in 2005/2006 (2-step).Marie

There have been several folks recently who I have noted are asking for

thoughts and advice regarding having a colectomy (please forgive me for

not remembering exactly who, but Randy's recent request for information

reminded me that I've been wanting to post about this).

I keep on file a document of my thoughts about my own colectomy, and

share it with folks on an IBD supprt website that I belong to

(www.ibdsucks.com) when they are getting ready to go through this same

experience. It does include personal anecdotes, and is a 'tell it like

it is' account of my own experience with this major surgery.

It's a 4 page long document, much too long to post here, and I wouldn't

want to bore folks who are not interested.

If any of you ARE interested, please reply to me, either on the board

or via email, and I would be happy to cut and paste the document in a

reply email to you. I think it really helps to hear details from folks

who have been there!

I kept a journal of my ileostomy and jpouch surgery.

I have gone back and read it several times and I laugh

at some of my entries...(obviously on pain meds after

the surgery), but, definitely a true depiction of what

I went through and my thought processes. I actually

recommend doing so. It was quiet therapeudic.
