Guest guest
I was diagnosed with PSC this Febraury. I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom (PCOS) which is interfering with trying to get pregnant. My OB wants to put me on Clomid for ovulation, but due to my " unknown " liver issues was hesitant about the medication and how to monitor me during pregnancy. It was her pushing me to get a second opinion that finally resulted in my PSC dx. My question is if anyone else has had fertility issues AND PSC? Today I had my first GI follow up since dx and starting Urso and my LFTs have dropped dramatically to just above the normal range. I'm hoping that knowing more specifically what is happening with my liver now will increase my OBs comfort in helping me to get pregnant. Any advice for me of things to talk about with my OB (or articles to show her) would be much appreciated. SoCal
Guest guest
I am 39, and now 13 weeks pregnant. I had a tubal reversal in June of 07 and I have had PSC since 1996. My OB is doing alot of research on PSC, and unfortunately there is not alot of info on pregnancy and PSC. Dr. Lindor at the mayo is doing a chart review on PSC and Pregnancy right now, but the info won't be out until at least next year.I do know that my LFTs have never been better! They are perfect. Other than the night sweats, and alot more fatigue, you can hardly tell I have PSC. My Hep @ the U of M had no problem with me trying to get pregnant. And at the time of my reversal, the Doc. told me not to expect much success, as I had the PSC and age against me, but I did get pregnant, and I am optomistic that everything will go ok. Don't give up! Annie Subject: PSC, PCOS and PregnancyTo: Date: Monday, May 5, 2008, 5:05 PM I was diagnosed with PSC this Febraury. Guest guest
I've had symptoms for 5 years but wasnt diagnosed with PSC until last year. I took clomid to get pregnant with my daughter and she just turned 3. Then we had a surprise pregnancy (much to my delight) and I had twins. I was dx with PCOS too when I was a teenager. My doctor didn't know anyone else with the disease so he and my hepatologist talked on the phone a bit. I was diagnosed with Primary biliary cirrhosis a week after i found out I was pregnant with the twins (the just turned 1) and dx with PSC when the were 3 months old. At the end of my twin pregnancy I developed HELLP syndrom and my liver started acting crazy. My OB called my Hepatologist and they decided it was time to have the babies. They were only 5 weeks early and I was a house by the time they were born. They were 5 pounds 6 ounces and 6 pounds 5 ounce too. So no problems with their health but Adam did have a very mild cleft lip. Not sure what that's about. Just make sure all you doctors have the ability to get ahold of one another. My hepa gave me his office, personal cell, and pager number to use in case of an emergency. Came in handy too. :-) Good luck with your journey. Feel free to email me anytime!
