Guest guest
For every recipe of every kind that I’ve tried since starting the SCD, I always need to use less honey than the recipe indicates. That has me thinking that a lot of you out there must be some really incredible sweet tooths! J I can tell by looking at a recipe if it calls for what I consider to be too much honey. Personally, I’d never put more than a ¼ cup of honey in any recipe, and often less; especially if it’s something that already has fruit in it, and is thus sweet. n From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Rahim Sent: Monday, June 15, 2009 10:34 AM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Re: Vanilla ice cream too honey-ish i Alyssa, I have tried both the vanilla and the cherry ice cream recipe form that website. They were both too sweet for me. I will definitely be using less honey next time. Perhaps half a cup instead of three-quarters. I also made strawberry ice cream using the cherry icecream recipe and straining out the seeds and using less honey. It was amazing and everyone loved it at my daughter's first birthday party. Make sure you use a very mild honey like clover and use more vanilla to disguise the honey 'smell'. Without an ice cream maker, you will get icy results. In the absence of an ice cream maker, you can stir the ice cream really well every half hour while it solidifies to break up the ice crystals. This makes it a little creamier. My cuisinart ice cream maker works really well. It's great that you're getting such an awesome deal of Craigslist. I think you'll use it a lot. Good luck! - > > I tried the vanilla ice cream recipe on nomorecrohns.com, and it was > just way to sweet and honey tasting for me!
