Guest guest
Dear all - We are heading south, moving from Columbus area (Ohio) to Palm Beach Gardens area due to job relocation. From what I read there are a few of us on the same boat. We have a 9-year old son with Autism (moderate I believe - somewhere in the middle at best). I will commute for a couple of months and will finally move the family in June after school year is over. This is our 3rd move, and actually lived in Boca Raton from the time he was 3 months old until he turned 4. We moved to Plano, TX for two years and then Dublin, OH. I guess we can say we are moving back home. He do loves Florida and we have family in Miami / Weston areas. Johann attends public school in Dublin, Ohio, currently in 3rd grade. For the most part he is in a " resource room " with one-on-one education and has an aide with him at all times. He attends " specials " (Art, music, PE, recess, library) with his 3rd grade peers, and has peer buddies (neurotypical) that help him get integrated. We went the private school route here in Ohio and he actually regressed academically. We want to stay in public schools and have visited a few in the area. Does anyone have feedback on Allamanda? I am currently looking for doctors (biomedical and typical combination preferred as that is what we currently do), BVA / ABA, speech, OT, PT and feeding therapies as well as respite services in the area. I am so impressed with this group! I have been following conversations but now it is time to join them. I appreciate your help and support, and look forward to hopefully meeting you in person. On that note, is there a parent support group that gets together to chat / vent, etc? I am part of one here and it has been so helpful. We go out once a month and share all our stories (good and bad) with a few laughs and tears. Thanks! Bast
