Guest guest
Mara, Haven't thought about that although I would not want to screw up my delicate gut ecology- it's nice to be able to eat again. I am pretty psyched to start the alternative treatment here in the begining of July (I got my results back yesterday) first I need to start on some oral remedies and then I need to do some drips and laser treatments after that I do the alternative Lyme protocol followed by natural lipid treatments. Guest guest
Hi Kim-- So sorry for your dx. I am just curious why you would prefer the Zithromax over the Doxycycline--how long will you take the Zithro--it's usually a Z-pak ( 5 day pack) that is a shorter course, but stays in your bloodstream for the 10 days. Is that why you chose it, to limit gut exposure? Hopefully you should be feeling better pretty soon. Regards, Terry Lyme DX Hi all,Lyme DX by ND/MD came yesterday. Kind of overwhelmed with it, so if anyone else has a DX for "chronic" lyme, I would appreciate any resources or info, thoughts on treatment etc.The DX came after Igenix bood lab testing. We skipped labcorp testing. I have been having multiple symptoms since January, but it coincided with our starting SCD, so we were kind of waiting to see what happened. After 4 "flares", we finally tested for Lyme. My symptoms have been consistent with MS, so I was tested for that as well, with a negative MRI. Looking back on it, I guess it all was a little hairy. At least now I feel better - a reason for why I am so tired, why my right side throbs continually, why I have presistent numbness, etc . . .ND/MD calls it "chronic" vs "single incident" because my symptoms have been persistent for longer than 3 months, and there is not a specific history of a tick bite, or recent evidence (rash, etc.) First course of action is 30 days antibiotics - she prefers Doxycycline, but we agreed on Zithromax, with ++ probiotic and acidolophus supplementation - genlter on my system. She wants to "provoke" the bugs and then re-test, because we need secondary confirmation for insurance compliance. I have not started the Zithro yet - I have not been on antibiotics since starting SCD.ND/MD follows ilads.org protocol for treatment. We are going to re-test blood after first course of Zithro. She anticipates that because we caught it early, my treatment can be handled naturally after initial antibiotics . . .So, any thoughts or help woudl be appreciated. Reliable resources on lyme that other have found helpful.Kind of deflated yesterday - and after everyone went to bed, all I really wanted was a huge bowl of mac & cheese (even GF!!) but I completely resisted and had meatballs and cauliflower puree instead . Oh, food + emotions! Thanks in advance - Kim in NJ, SBS due to bowel resection Feb 03"Chronic" Lyme June 092 4 yr olds, ADHD/SPD, leaky gut, k.oxytoca, candida Transitioned to SCD from GFCF Nov/Dec 08All SCD Jan 1/

Guest guest
Hi Terry, Mara and Jodi, My RX for Azithromycin is for 30 days. We chose this over Doxycycline because she did not want me exposed to the sun at all on Doxycycline - and with my low Vit D levels, and it being summer time, it was kind of urealistic for me not to be able to spend time with my boys outside. Also, pre-SCD I have been on Azithromycin, with no reactions, and we were also kind of looking for something " reliable " . She tells me that the Azithro " could " be gentler on my system . . . I do realize that Doxy is " gold standard " first choice antibiotic, but she suggested Azithro, and I kind of went with it. I definately appreciate feedback or thoughts, as I have not yet started the RX. Thanks!
