Guest guest
Hi Lori, There is a large percentage of people with both conditions - 75% of people with PSC (not sure if that's world wide or Australia or US) also have IBS - 85% Ulcerative Colitis and 15% Crohn's. But it's only something like 2% to 5% of people with IBS that have PSC. I have come across a few studies on the connection and you'd probably find some relevant info on the PSC Literature site. Cheers, Kate > > It seems like so many people in this PSC group have Ulcerative Colitis and had it before being diagnosed with PSC. Does anyone know what the percentage is, those with Ulcerative Colitis and PSC? Do most or just a few have both? I find this interesting and I am not sure why they seem to be linked together. I am sure I missed some emails on this. My Dad who has PSC has never had Ulcerative Colitis nor any symptoms of it. > Thanks in advance, > > Lori A. > > " Aggressively Pursuing Solutions To Your Real Estate Needs! Guest guest
Hi Lori; In N. Europe and N. America, about 80% of patients with PSC concomitantly suffer from an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). About 60% suffer from ulcerative colitis, 10% from Crohn's, and 10% from indeterminate colitis. Only 3.4% of IBD patients also suffer from PSC. http://www.pscpartners.org/NewsVol-1-1.pdf Best regards, Dave (father of (23); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03) > > It seems like so many people in this PSC group have Ulcerative Colitis and had it before being diagnosed with PSC.
