Thank you so much for your support. To: Solomon Absentee Ballot AlertIf you requested an absentee ballot for this very important election then you should know the ballot is extremely long, and it will take even more postage then the August absentee ballot. TO HAVE YOUR VOTE COUNTED MAKE SURE POSTAGE OF $1.50 IS PLACED ON THE BALLOT AND THAT YOU SIGN THE OUTSIDE OF THE BALLOT BY THE RED X. If you fail to place the correct amount of postage or you fail to sign the outside of the ballot, your vote WILL NOT COUNT. The Supervisor of Elections should have mailed you your absentee ballot by now. If you have not received it yet, please contact the Supervisor of Elections athttp://www.browardsoe.org/. Your vote for your School Board member matters! If like most people, you vote for President, Senator and then as the ballot seems to get longer; you simply stop voting. The scary statistic is that over half the people who vote in this election, more than half will not complete the ballot. I am a candidate to represent you on our School Board,. I want to tell you why you should care about who will represent you on our School Board, and why I am your best choice. You should care. . . Our School System belongs to all of us: parents, grandparents, students, business executives, employers, employees, Municipal City Governments, and every Broward resident in every walk of life. It affects just about every facet of our community. Better schools means better everything: better community, better government, better jobs, better public servants, better quality of life – that’s why you should care about who will represent you on our School Board. Your best choice - Solomon Like you, I have read about the financial mismanagement and the ethical lapses in our public school system. Like many of you, I have children in public school (2 in High School and 2 in middle) so I know that we must do better. In my years of community advocacy on many school and district committees, I have seen firsthand the school system’s layers of mismanagement, ethical lapses and incompetence smothering pockets of excellence. There are some really good people working in our public school system, but too often their efforts are thwarted by bureaucratic nonsense. The solution is simple – empower the pockets of excellence, overcome the bureaucracy. When I saw the problem of school bullying, I partnered with some of those pockets of excellence, Co-Chaired the Broward County Anti-Bullying Task Force and co-wroteFlorida’s first and one of the Nation’s strongest Anti-Bullying Policies by sweeping away the bureaucratic barriers. I know it can be done, because we did it. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people can make a difference, in fact it is the only thing that ever has” We need to make excellence a standard – not a goal. We need to demand results, not best efforts. The success of our Anti-Bullying efforts teaches me that we can do it! Your vote for your School Board member matters. Join me and together we will make a difference! Vote for Solomon because experience matters and trust is earned - not bought. Thank you.
