Guest guest
Chelle: if youhave a good female doctor, ask her. I have no problem. Also, it seems to me if fibroid is the issue for the hysterectomy, I have heard there are ways to shrink the fibroid without doing the hysterectomy. hugs, ML Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till Ideclare your power to the next generation, your might to all whoare to come. -- Psalm 71:18 -----Original Message-----From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ]On Behalf Of ChelleSent: Tuesday, August 14, 2007 6:00 PMTo: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: Hysterectomy & sex afterwards - Arline Arline, I am already on an estrogen patch...and obviously I still have my uterus...my hormones are WHACK...I continued to still have cycles up until recently, so until then, my progesterone was fine...but, if I have the surgery, I won't have to worry about the progesterone issue anyway...and that is good...because the progesterone always makes my bladder worse (IC). Okay, here is the biggie, I'm gonna cut right to the chase here and I think you can handle it LOL...I've read that during climax the uterus actually contracts some too...and that when you have a hysterectomy, well, if the uterus is gone, no more uterus to play a part in climax. Sooooo....my concern is that the surgery would affect my sex life in a negative way. The reason I'm so concerned is that I've had all these stupid pelvic conditions for my entire marriage of almost 14 yrs. now (I'm 35). The last two, my husband and I have actually had a good sex life...mostly pain free now...if anything messes that up....I'm not going to take that too well as you can imagine...that is why I'm trying to ask others who have had the surgery. Sorry if it's too much info.....*grin* Thanks so much for all of your responses...today has really helped me.

Guest guest
Chelle, I think it is all about hormones and not having a uterus was not a factor with me. It seems to me that the blood supply that goes to the areas for climax is still there and has to go somewhere. Plus women tend to have a very large area climax anyway I think, unlike men. All I know is that I was delighted to get rid of a diseased, out of place, pushing on the bladder useless organ. I was glad to get rid of ovaries that might give me more trouble and they were pretty useless, too. I think women can even have a climax when they don't have a clitoris. Actually who owns or takes care of the Vulvodynia list and who also I think often reads this one would be the one to tell you, even better than the doctors as that is his field. He would know for sure. Docs don't know much about sex I think. (I'd like to talk to their wives about that) ;o) You could address the subject line to him on either list or both and I suspect he would answer.
