Guest guest
I've read that it's O.K. to take ursodiol with food or on an empty stomach: http://www.gicare.com/pated/ursodiol.htm " You may take it on an empty stomach or with food to prevent stomach upset. " The main thing would be if you take cholestyramine (questran) you should take cholestyramine (questran) one or two hours after the ursodiol: http://www.gicare.com/pated/cholestyramine.htm " Always take this drug (cholestyramine) 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking any other drug. Take it just before or with a meal. " This is because the cholestyramine will absorb the ursodiol and prevent the ursodiol from being absorbed. Guest guest
I've not been told that. I take at least one capsule with every meal - 3 AM, 1 noon, 3 PM. I can't imagine why it would make a difference, unless they think it interferes with gallbladder filling/discharge after meals. I don't have one, so it really doesn't matter. I mean taking it at least 1 hour after? Thanks

He said it really doesn't matter when you take Urso. Since UDCA (Ursolit in Israel) is absorbed and reabsorbed the same way several times the level will stay high no matter when you take it. He even said I can take the entire dose once a day. I usually take 1200 mg in the morning with breakfast and the other 1200 mg with dinner. If it makes you feel better you can spread it out over the day, you can take it with food or not. I sometimes take all 2400 mg if I forgot a dose. Guest guest
I have been taking URSO for over 8 years. I seem to remember some sort of advice about taking it with food to prevent stomach upset, but I don't have any side effects from URSO. So I take it sometimes take it with food and sometimes without, depending on if I'm hungry. Ian (52) PSC 89 Hi!My doctor told me to take Uroslit at least one hour after or before the big meals.I still don't get it coz all the other doctors say I should take it right after or with the food.Does any one got the same instruction like me? I mean taking it at least 1 hour after? Thanks -- Ian Cribb P.Eng.
Guest guest
All right, I usually take it a hour after the food not before but I seem to be the only one to get an instruction like this, (a hour before or after.. meaning not with the meal) Weird but thank you all. > > > > Hi! > > My doctor told me to take Uroslit at least one hour after or before the > > big meals. > > I still don't get it coz all the other doctors say I should take it > > right after or with the food. > > Does any one got the same instruction like me? Guest guest
Yeah, When I asked Prof. Bruk in Ihilov Hospital Center in Tel Aviv about it he said that it doesn't matter when to take it because in our case (PSC) it works straight on the liver and has nothing to do with presence of absence of food, but still it sounded weird to me because my doctor emphasized on the " at least one hour before or after " so I wanted to know if anyone got the same instruction (looks like I'm the only one). > > > > Hi! > > My doctor told me to take Uroslit at least one hour after or before the > > big meals. > > I still don't get it coz all the other doctors say I should take it > > right after or with the food. > > Does any one got the same instruction like me?
