Guest guest Posted February 5, 2007 Report Share Posted February 5, 2007 , Unfortunately, I don't have too much time right now to answer this, but thought it might help for you to hear from someone who has had 23+ ERCP(s). In my experience, what tends to cause pancreatitis during/following an ERCP is the dye they shoot into the bile ducts. Therefore, when they are just removing a stent, he will not be faced with the same risk. In stent removal there is no dye to inject, well, at least my doc doesn't...he simply locates the stent and removes it. There's only been two times where he injected more dye and that's because he knew it was necessary to do more work on my ducts...work that he ran out of time to do during the original.
