Actually, I'm not sure yet. The doc has tested me twice and one indicated I did and one indicated I didn't. I don't remember what the blood work was that he did, but I do know that he'd like a tie-breaker. It's important to find out for sure before tx, because s can damage the new liver.

My son's dr found elevated copper levels in the liver tissue from my

son's liver biopsy (called this morning to tell me even though the

biopsy was done nearly 2 wks ago) and is doing a 24hr copper-level

urine test when we go in to see him again in 2 more wks. He

mentioned another test, but I don't remember what it was -maybe the

blood work like you've had done. Were both of your tests done via

blood work?

I wish you well with the tie-breaker test. Are you following the low-

copper diet in the interim as precaution?

If you take the meds (for 's) and follow the low-copper diet,

won't that be enough to keep the copper levels normal in a new

liver? Does 's mean you aren't a candidate for tx, make tx

more complicated, or is it a non-issue if you've been on meds to keep

the 's in check?

> Both of my tests were blood labs. I'm not following a diet and

it's never been suggested to me. I guess the doc wants to KNOW the

answer, first.

And, it could be that maybe a diet high in copper might show slight

elevation for the one test that came back high? (Just a guess, but

sounds plausible). It would be great news for the tie breaker to be

normal range. I wish you well.

>As far as tx goes, he never led me to believe that I would be

eliminated as a tx candidate if I have 's. I think he just

wants to know so he can put me on medication and make sure that no

damage comes to the new liver.

I didn't it was a concern, but was wondering if I'd missed something

when I read the earlier post. From what I've read (and was told)

it's completely treatable --thankfully.

I am hoping to find out more, though, from others here who've been on

the meds for it.
