Guest guest
val, i've been doing some thinking... could you tell me if you think that this idea has any validity... i know you said you have limited knowledge of high iron etc, but you have a knack for putting things together... so the thing that my sister and i have in common is low b12, and for that reason we have low red blood cells.... well, based on this paragraph " Iron helps red blood cells do their job. Without iron, the healthy red blood cells that you get during your transfusion won't be able to carry oxygen. But your body doesn't have a natural way to get rid of this iron. Over time the iron builds up in your body causing a condition called iron overload. " do you think that it is possible that if we dont have enough rbc for the iron that we have to do their job, that the iron can actually back up in the body? if its ability to function is disturbed, then it cannot be moved through the body correctly?? answer this if you have time, if you dont, i will understand. i guess i am speculating. or, wonder if its something else entirely, just like we are missing the intrinsic factor for absorption of B12, maybe we are missing a protein to properly absorb the iron? lactoferrin? idk, and i am sorry if this is getting OT now:/ > >> > >>> hi val, i just ordered an iron panel for my sister from econolabs, and i am a little alarmed by the results... i knew her iron was high, but it seems to have gone higher.... > >>> > >>> TIBC 365 (250-450) > >>> UIBC 50 (150-375) > >>> iron, serum 315 (35-155) > >>> iron, saturation 86 (15-55) > >>> > >>> and the pattern is weird,,, from the explanation for the test from Lab Test Online, it is the pattern for iron poisoning.... > >>> i am worried for her; the only solution i can think of is to give blood, BUT we are both anemic from very low B12 (hers is lower than mine), low RBC, and high bilirubin (the other liver enzymes are ok). Guest guest
k thanks val, we both seem to have good temps for whatever reason, dunno. and i feel 150 times better than before i started t3 only, feel like i am actually tolerating my t3 dose of 68.75 finally and am in week 15 of t3 only. 10,000mcg plus of b12 per day has helped SO SO much. just this tricky iron issue, know i would be that much better and so would she, if we could get to the bottom of it. will keep you posted though, and if i happen to find anything useful i will bring it back here. > >>>> > >>>> > >>>>> hi val, i just ordered an iron panel for my sister from econolabs, and i am a little alarmed by the results... i knew her iron was high, but it seems to have gone higher.... > >>>>> > >>>>> TIBC 365 (250-450) > >>>>> UIBC 50 (150-375) > >>>>> iron, serum 315 (35-155) > >>>>> iron, saturation 86 (15-55) > >>>>> > >>>>> and the pattern is weird,,, from the explanation for the test from Lab Test Online, it is the pattern for iron poisoning.... > >>>>> i am worried for her; the only solution i can think of is to give blood, BUT we are both anemic from very low B12 (hers is lower than mine), low RBC, and high bilirubin (the other liver enzymes are ok).
